( Pictures on the set with Sylvester Stallone below...)

Real estate has created a life that enables me to have quite a flexible schedule, and for that I am truly grateful. I believe you can create the same situation for yourself. Here's a perfect example...

In December, 2005, my girlfriend and I went to Las Vegas during the week to be extras in Sylvester Stallone's new movie, "Rocky Balboa". You're thinking, Rocky 6? Are you kidding?!

The big fight scene was being filmed at the Mandalay Bay casino arena...

We were there 12 hours one day and a couple the next...then we drove back home to Phoenix. (Only after eating at a couple buffets first of course!)

Turns out we saw the coolest parts of the movie being filmed...the final round (and how it ends) and Sly's dramatic departure from the arena for the last time...maybe.

Stallone wrote, produced, directed and starred in this so we saw a lot of him as he would set up and direct scenes throughout the day.

Below are some pictures from the shoot. The second picture is unique as it was of dummies that were placed all over to make the arena look packed. ( When a stage hand was told, "put all the dummies over there" and he grabbed my arm, I had to passionately convince him a mistake was being made. He still wasn't so sure... )

We seemed to be in many shots when they were shooting, but they were smart and only put my girlfriend in the movie (and not me). Enjoy...Mark~

That's me drinking the water. We were actually in the
2nd row for most of the filming.

Notice I'm nowhere near the dummies thank you very much.

Some guy in front of the huge banner.

Rocky's corner is above left. You can see them wearing black
and yellow silk shirts that say "Rocky" on the back.

Here's Stallone directing and setting up the next fight scene.
He has make-up on so he looks beat up.

In between shots there were 2 guys that would constantly spray the boxers with water so they looked sweaty. This would often make the fake blood on Stallone's face run, so they would have a make-up person quickly touch it up.

Rocky is boxing real life boxer Antonio Tarver, although he is named something else in the film. He's the bald guy on the right. They laughed a lot between takes.

After they shot a scene, Sylvester would then again become
the director and go to the corner of the ring to watch what
they just filmed on a monitor on the floor about 15 feet away.

Because Stallone was the director, we would hear him talk to people, including us. I'm sure he was under a lot of pressure those days, but you never would have known it. He treated everyone very nicely and we left thinking he was a great guy.

Paulie is still in his corner as is Apollo Creed's old trainer. Every time Paulie would come onto the set, the crowd would erupt. He was definitely a favorite. Young women liked him too and he took full advantage of the situation by taking pictures and giving the occasional hug and kiss. He was a charmer.

Sylvester's brother Frank was there on the set as well. He would walk around telling jokes and doing celebrity impressions. He seemed to really like doing Robert Dinero. He was a cut up! I told him I liked him in the movie "Tombstone", which is one of my all time favorites. He's the one at the beginning of the movie who's playing cards with Doc Holliday, played by Val Kilmer, but I digress...

"Rocky Balboa" was released December 20,  2006. I'm standing in the crowd very close to Sylvester as he leaves the arena for the last time at the end of the movie. So, if you see it, try to spot the guy that sort of looks like a dummy.

As I mentioned at the top of this page, I would love for you to have the same freedom in your life that real estate has afforded me...
